Inner Space – 12-timmarsjakten – Bellows skateboards

Four different stories from four different skateboard teams from the dark dungeon at Bryggeriet Skatepark.

A few months back we invited Kaleidoscope skateboards,Semester skateboards, Bellows skateboards and New Soul skateboards, four of Swedens hottest skateboard brands, to spend a night at Bryggeriet skatepark to produce a little movie in this limited space of time. These four movies that is about to be dropped will be competing against each other and you the public are the ones to vote and pick the overall winner.

The movies will be released on friday the 30th of september right here on skatemalmo.se and the voting will be open for fourteen days only.

We will start to present all the contestant teams and this time we will get to know Bellows Skateboards. We asked a few questions about their brand and how it was being involved in this project.

Hej Bellows skateboards! Could you give us a brief presentation about your brand, when it got started and who’s on the team?

To put it straightforward, when Love’s plane touched down upon his return from France it was the thump that loosened the piece of apple in the throat of the beautiful prince called Bellows that had been laying comatose in the collective subconsciousness of me, Love and Johan Florell. We kept it the dark for a while and then released all the magnificence at Millencolin Open 2007. The original team was Love, Johan, Ola Löwbeer and Mika Edin and we have since then been blessed with the added abilities of Sarah Meurle, Daniel Grönwall and Joel Svärd.

What was your strategy with this project? Did you have a detailed plan and idea before you entered Bryggeriet Skatepark?

As you will all become aware when you watch the video we had everything from the script and dialogue to graphic profile and second landings on hard lock long before we arrived, and we stuck to our plan with ultra orthodox commitment. Either that or it was more like “get in the van”.

There was a few challenges involved in this project like limited time, working nighttime, tiredness and doing the actual filming. What was hardest for you?

I guess it was different challenges for all of us who went, Mika, Sarah, Joel, Danne and our filmer Erik. When we set off from Stockholm, Mika had already been awake for 24 hours due to extensive travelling. He then skated for one hour in Södertälje on the way down and for two hours straight when we arrived at Bryggeriet so when we were about to start filming not much was left of Mika as we know him, despite reloading with Nisses fantastic hamburgers!

Erik is always bursting with will to skate so the hardest for him was probably to stick to the camera instead of the boards but he kept to his duty with stoic endurance. Daniel made harsh love to the concrete floor early on in filming and it must not have been easy for him to find the full spark again.

Sarah has a massive acting talent and although she didn’t get that many lines in the final video it must have been hard for her to jump out of her role character to skateboarding on demand.

The hardest thing for me was to stop talking to my old Buddy Weiser which Nisse had been kind enough to invite. That I had to by a 150 EURO plug-in software to be able to use the clips from Erik’s new camera in my editing program is a another less juicy story.

Joel had, as always, not a single problem with anything and even nailed the most intense scenes in under five takes.

Who in the team participated? Did you have a special tactic behind who you chose to skate?

See above.

Was the result as expected?

Thank god no. Is there anything more depressing than a dream fulfilled?
